Effective with discharges on January 1, 2016, The Joint Commission has expanded the threshold for mandatory reporting of the Perinatal Care (PC) measure set from a minimum of 1,100 births annually to a minimum of 300 births per year.
According to TJC, this change means that all Joint Commission-accredited hospitals with 300 or more births per year are required to collect data and report on the five PC core measures: elective delivery, cesarean birth, antenatal steroids, healthcare-associated blood stream infections in newborns, exclusive breast milk feeding.
